The Grounds Maintenance Manager is responsible for the effective planning, smooth operation, and management of the Grounds Maintenance Division at Piscataqua Landscaping and Tree Service so as to ensure, on a continuing basis, the realization of maximum quality, profitability, improvement, and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of the Maintenance Division delegating authority and responsibility to personnel and continually monitoring performance while holding direct reports accountable.
  • Propagate the corporate culture and mission that will make employees proud to be a part of the team and customers and vendors pleased to deal with PLTS. Fosters an enthusiastic, creative "can do" attitude. Continue to promote company initiates on safety and training with assistance from management and administration.
  • Provide consistency amongst the Grounds Maintenance Division by providing direction and oversight.
  • Oversee schedules and work plans in your division to maximize labor utilization and production while watching overtime. Work with other department directors to assist the efficient use of labor and schedule.
  • Develop and/or assist in the development of division budgets with the COO and CEO.
  • With your direct reports develop strategies to produce the work as it aligns with the division and the company goals. Keep revenues, expenses, and gross margin on track.
  • Assist with other Division Directors in transitioning customers from other divisions into the grounds maintenance division. Work with other managers and directors, with help of the COO, to coordinate smooth workflow across divisions.
  • Learn to efficiently use the company's computerized estimating system.
  • Develop relevant reports to discuss with the COO and CEO
  • Schedule and lead weekly tactical meetings with Account Managers and or relevant personnel to discuss the progress of the division.
  • Keep COO and CEO abreast of customers issues, red flags, and strategies needed to correct issues.
  • Alert COO and CEO to any major changes that may or will negatively affect the company.
  • Responsible for the management of High-Value Residential Maintenance Customers, to be assigned annually by and with the cooperation of the DGM, COO, and CEO.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Assist in the bidding process, detailed takeoffs, and other estimating functions on an "as needed" basis. Work with other departments and sales staff to properly align sales and maintain production.
  • Evaluate employees and vendor performance, discuss problems, and fine-tunes plans to changing conditions with assistance from COO, CEO, and Chief Admin.
  • Assist in the technical direction and training of personnel; provides guidance and work supervision for engineering technical and professional staff as needed. Serve as a technical advisor to Staff.
  • Maintain personal contact with major customers, vendors, and sub-contractors.
  • Attend sales and management meetings and schedule as required.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. and/or B.S.) from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents ability to communicate effectively to common inquiries or complaints from customers or business members of the community.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
